Knitting TNG

So I’ll admit that at one point in my life I was a bit of a trekker. I loved the new Star Trek and watched in faithfully. It’s no secret my love of Jean-Luc Picard. I did move into Voyegeur and Deep Space Nine but over time stopped watching all forms of the show. My brothers and I always called the kids “TNG” as in The Next Generation and that’s what popped into my head as last night I sat down on the couch with my sweet FD “N” (for those of you who are new we have a foster daughter who I refer to as N for her privacy) and put two sticks and some string in her hand and taught her to knit. The grin on her face and I took out her own yarn and her own needles was priceless. I wish I could show you all. She LOVED it. She took to it like a fish to water. I’ve never taught a child to knit so I’m not sure if she picked it up faster than most but I do know that she was able to knock out 3 rows before I knew what was happening. This morning I found her ready for school sitting in the livingroom trying to get some stitches in before we left. Now I can’t post her, but I can post her handiwork. Here is N’s very first attempt at knitting.

N's first knitting
She’s shocked that it’ll become a SCARF!
And now we have Knitting TNG.
