reduce, reuse & recycle and SCORE!

Why don’t more people freecycle?  Really, I just don’t understand.  When ever I have crap to throw away I always but it on freecycle first to see if there is someone out there that could use it.  Better someone’s house than the landfill.  And I have got some dream things off of freecycle.  I don’t use it as much as I should but every once in awhile I strike gold.  The landlord of this place provided a vacuum but it’s crap.  And it’s so old and useless I didn’t even bother to clean it to see if I could get better suction out of it.  So I checked online and the price of vacuums are actually quite reasonable over here.  But then I remembered that I had joined the local freecycle group on yahoo.  So I gave it a shot.  Posted that I was looking for a vacuum and heard nothing for 2 days.  Then I got an email from someone saying they have a canister Dyson that shuts off after 20 minutes of vacuuming.  Okay so A, I never vacuum for more than 20 minutes and B, it’s a DYSON.  So this morning Miss Thing and I took the bus over to gather it up.

Here it is on the steps of it’s old owners house.

It was filthy but I wasn’t worried.

Miss Thing got to cleaning with de-greaser and elbow grease.  (I supervised and cleaned out the clogged head)

Here she is our New to Us vacuum!  Works like a charm.  Nothing a good cleaning couldn’t fix.  And it was FREE!   I mean, really, even if it lasts another year it’s sooo worth it.

Oh and Mr. Magoo got an award at school this week.  His award was for co-operation, confidence & curiosity!  And yes, the award is called a “Woody”.  Which although HILARIOUS to us Canadians, does not mean the same thing over here….

Ive never heard of this site! did you use it in Germany? The base her has a reuse center which I guess is the same thing. I got a free bouncer for AJ and it’s perfect. ive also dropped off a ton of stuff there too. I think it’s a great idea! And you have a DYSON! lucky.

I never used it in Germany but there is one in Mannheim, I figured with the language it would be too tough. I’m right back on it here though, LOVE freecycle!
